As part of our making sliders topic, we have been researching different types of sliders. We looked at how they are used in pop-up books, drawers, curtain rails, train tracks and rollercoasters. We used what we found out to help us make our own sliders.
Reception Rangoli Patterns
After learning about the Hindu festival ‘Diwali’ the children created some Rangoli patterns using watercolours. They learnt that the patterns can be placed outside homes to welcome visitors and to bring good luck.

Prime Numbers In Year 5
In maths, we have been studying prime numbers. To help us grasp this concept, we created arrays using counters. We found that if we can only form 2 arrays for a number, then it has just 2 factors: 1 and itself, which means it is a prime number.
Reversible Changes In Year 5 Science
Today in science, we explored reversible changes. We learned that if a change is reversible, it’s a physical change because no new substance is formed. We melted ice cubes to make water and then froze the water again to demonstrate this concept.
Football Tournament Y5/6
Representatives from Y5and 6 attended a football tournament yesterday. They practiced skills then enjoyed playing some matches. They all worked well as a team and exemplified the School Games Values.
