They also develop their communication and language skills through circle time and by using talk partners; their physical development by taking part in weekly PE sessions in the school hall and outside and develop their personal, social and emotional skills by making friends and talking about their feelings and emotions.

The Reception class has an exciting and engaging indoor and outdoor provision with areas such as a water area, sand area, writing area, reading area, creative area, maths area, small world area and a construction area. Children are taught through whole class sessions and group focussed activities as well as having time to learn in the provision.

Our Reception class is a place for children to explore, discover and learn. We have a creative, fun and warm environment for the children to develop their Early Learning skills.

School uniform:

Children wear full school uniform each day and also need a PE kit for when they take part in physical activities.

Extra curriculum activities:

The children in Reception all take part in a Nativity play at Christmas time. They go on educational visits throughout the year to places such as a visit to Muncaster Castle, farms and adventure areas. Reception also have themed days linked to topics and children's interests.

Getting a place at St Bridget's:

If you were to choose St Bridget's for your child and they were given a place we would then invite you to a new starter parents’ evening in the Summer term. This would be an opportunity for parents to meet the Reception staff and to learn about what happens in Reception and what to expect for their child. You would also be able to have a look around the classroom and ask any questions. The children would then be invited in for a taster session and would have a home visit from the Reception staff.
