Reception end of year trip
Reception thoroughly enjoyed their end of year trip to the Lake District Wildlife Park. They enjoyed learning about all the animals. They especially enjoyed cuddling guinea pigs, watching a bird of prey display and stroking the bearded dragon and the snake.
Reception Transition to Year One

Pirate ships
Reception had great fun making and testing their pirate boats this week. They had to think about how to make the boats, the materials they would need and whether the materials were waterproof or not. All of them were waterproof although some of them did capsize.
Reception Running
Reception ran really well at the running tournament this morning.
Halving shapes
In Maths this week Reception have been learning about halving shapes. They investigated how they could halve some basic 2D shapes using their scissors to cut them. They were surprised to find that some shapes could be halved in more than one way.
Reading rewards

Cricket
Reception had lots of fun in the sun this afternoon learning some basic cricket skills from some members of the Egremont Cricket Club. Afterwards they found out more about the sport in an interactive assembly.
Minibeast hunt
This week Reception have been exploring the school grounds to look for minibeasts. They used their observation skills to identify what they found.
Fly away butterflies!
Today we released our butterflies after four weeks of nurturing them from baby caterpillars to cocoons then finally to butterflies. We have learned so much from watching them grow, develop and change.
