All the children looked wonderful in their World Book Day costumes. They followed instructions to make gingerbread men. Tomorrow they will decorate them then they will write the instructions.

Nursery celebrated World Book Day by dressing as their favourite book character. What super outfits! 

Year One had a great time dressing up today for World Book Day. We shared our favourite books with our friends and designed a new front cover for our book Man on the Moon.

Y6 have enjoyed World Book Day. We had a wonderful collection of characters today including: Anne of Green Gables, Gangsta Granny, Willy Wonka and Dennis the Menace! Super efforts all round. 

There were some interesting characters in Year 2 today looking at an image and using it to make predictions and write noun phrases. Can you recognise anyone?

Year 2 have been learning how to write a biography. This morning they listened to Baroque music from the 1600s as they independently wrote a biography about Samuel Pepys.

Year 4 have been writing Haiku’s about Volcanoes. They learnt that a Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry that uses very few words but tries to draw a picture in the mind. It has 3 lines, rarely rhymes and follows a pattern of 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third. They…

Well done to all the Reception children who earned a stripe on their reading rainbow by reading five times or more at home this week. Keep up the good work and let’s see who can fill their rainbow with stripes to win a prize at the end of term.

We have had a great time learning our story Billy’s Bucket. We have made changes to the maps and are now writing our own versions. 

Year 2 enjoyed visiting Egremont Library this morning to return their previously borrowed books and find a different book to borrow. They also really enjoyed listening to a story about mischievous monsters in a zoo.
