While Year 4 were learning about carpentry, they compared the methods and tools Saint Joseph might have used with those used by carpenters today.
Celebrating St Joseph’s Day
St Joseph was a carpenter so today Year 4 were working with wood to make a Star of Bethlehem. They learned that carpentry requires the use of different skills, an understanding of safety and a lot of concentration. They also discovered that having an extra pair of helping hands is very useful.

Our bread caterpillars
This week we have been reading the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. The children have then been making their own caterpillars out of bread and even adding some raisins for eyes. Over the next few weeks we will be learning more about caterpillars and butterflies.

Y6 Lockdown Design and Technology
As part of their Design and Technology curriculum, the Y6 children who are learning from home were tasked with developing their own recipes and creating some delicious dishes in the kitchen. Dishes created ranged from cup-cakes to pizza and pasta dishes!
Pancake tasting in Nursery
Nursery made some pancakes to celebrate Pancake day. We flipped them in a frying pan and then the best part- we got to taste them! We could choose Biscoff spread, syrup, chocolate sauce or jam to go on them. Yummy.
Y5 'Design and Make' Moon Buggies
As part of their topic on space Y5 were challenged with the task of designing and making a moon buggy with similar features to the Lunar Roving Vehicle used on the Moon in the last three missions of the American Apollo programme during 1971 and 1972. As you can see they all did a great job!

Y5 Maya Civilization
Y5 were given a Maya civilization project. They could create something of their choice to show what they had learnt. This is what they came up with. The imagination and creativity has been absolutely amazing. Well done everyone!
Year 4 Baking Biscuits
Year 4 followed a recipe to bake their own biscuits. They had to use lots of skills including maths.
Learning to sew
Over the past few weeks Year 2 have been learning how to sew. They began by learning how to do a running stitch then they used a template to cut out the fabric they needed to. Today some of the children sewed their fabric together to make a pouch.
