Making Mezze Bowls In Year 5
As part of our D&T on Foods Around The World, Year 5 made Mezze Bowls. They used lots of different vegetables prepared by dicing, slicing, grating and ribboning. They were very sensible using the knives in a safe way. They all enjoyed eating their food.
Year 5 Make Flat Bread
Year 5 have been learning about different types of bread from around the world. Today we measured out ingredients to make flat bread and then enjoyed eating it with butter. We were all able to say what was different about this bread and why it didn’t rise.
Sewing Year 2 2023
Year 2 have used templates to cut out fabric to make bookmarks. Today the children begun to start sewing the pieces of fabric together. They cannot wait to see what she’d the finished product looks like.
D&T in Year 5
Year 5 used recycled jeans to make their own bag. They chose denim as it is durable and will last a long time. They used a running stitch and back stitch to sew it up.

Year 4 are become experts at threading a needle. Today they sewed a press stud onto fabric.
Sew a Button
Year 4 have been learning how to sew a button and make a button hole. They had to thread a needle and use their fine motor skills to carefully manipulate the needle to sew it onto fabric then create a shank. It was very tricky but they persevered. Well done Year 4!

The Little Red Hen make some bread
After reading the story of The Little Red Hen, the children made their own bread. They helped each other to mix the bread flour with the water, unlike the characters in the story. The bread was put in the oven and the children got to take it home when it was still nice and warm. Yummy!

In Reception we were learning some new D&T skills using different tools. We used a hammer to hit a nail into wood and also use pliers to pull the nail out. We learned some safety rules and wore protective goggles too.
