To celebrate World Maths Day, Y6 spent the afternoon with Y1 helping them to play Maths games and develop their counting and adding skills. 

Y6 were absolutely thrilled to be treated to a session in the Wonder Dome - a mobile 3D planetarium. Once inside, they went on a journey to space and learned about how there could well be life on other planets. What an experience! 

Y6 were set a World Book Day challenge: to find an area of the classroom where they could read in an u usual but quiet and focused way. They all enjoyed their favourite books in some weird and wonderful places and positions!

Y6 spent a lovely afternoon with our Reception children sharing books and special stories. Our Y6s read to the younger children with real expression and enthusiasm. They enjoyed juice and a biscuit to round off a fantastic World Book Day. 

Y6 have been learning how to make their own printing tiles by engraving patterns into them and then experimenting with layers of colour and different  designs.

Y6 had a great day out discovering more about the history of slavery and the sugar trade at the Rum Story.  They learnt about the wealthy Jefferson family who traded from their office in Whitehaven and used the sugar which was farmed by slaves on plantations in Antigua to make rum. After looking…

KS2 took part in the NSPCC Times Table Rock Star challenge today. They all tried very hard to be the winning class with the highest number of correct answers per pupil. The speed and recall of some of the pupils was very impressive! A huge well done to everyone. 
 

In their gymnastics lessons, Y6 have been learning how to use their bodies with a partner to create balances safely.
