Movement in Art
Year 4 observed artist Paula Reno created the illusion of movement in her painting ‘The Dance’. We looked at the use of colour and shape to create the illusion of movement in the skirts and the delicate placement of the dancers’ hands. We then applied these to draw our own sketches of a dancer.

Beowulf
Year 4 have been reading the retelling of the oldest surviving Anglo-Saxon legend Beowulf, as retold by Michael Morpurgo. The focus has been on how to develop and use a rich vocabulary.
Y4 Celebrate Chinese New Year
Year 4 learnt about some of the traditions surrounding Chinese New Year. They found out that 2021 is the year of the ox. They then chose some art activities related to Chinese New Year.

Year 4 explored different ways to look after one another’s mental health.
Y3&4 Phunky Foods
Y3 & 4 learnt about healthy food swaps in Phunky Foods then came up with lots of great suggestions of their own!
Athletics 5 Steps 5 Stars
We all enjoyed the athletics tournament at St. Bees School taking part in long jump, high jump, hurdles, sprint, vortex and ball push!
Golf Tournament
Congratulations to all our golfers who took part in a tournament at Seascale Golf Club. Our Y4 team came first and we are through to the School Games in Carlisle.
