Making sense of numbers
Using base 10, our place value chart, games and team work; children gained a much better understanding of the value of digits within 3 digit numbers.
Y5 active maths
Year 5 have been enjoying some Active Maths. They had to find the answers to questions, on numbers to a million, placed around the classroom.
Practical maths
Year 2 have been working on representing numbers up to 100. They used a range of equipment to make given numbers using tens and ones.
Nursery using the Beebots
Some of our Nursery children had the opportunity to use the Beebots last week in our carpet session. They had to listen to the instructions and move the Beebot on the map. This promoted the use of positional language, which we have been practising in Nursery.
Halving shapes
In Maths this week Reception have been learning about halving shapes. They investigated how they could halve some basic 2D shapes using their scissors to cut them. They were surprised to find that some shapes could be halved in more than one way.
Year 1 Fractions
Year One have had a great few days learning to 1/2 shapes and amounts. We have spent today halving amounts of cubes and writing it into a calculation.
Taller or shorter ??
Year one have taken advantage of the glorious weather and taken our maths lesson outside. We were drawing pictures that were taller or shorter and larger or smaller. We labelled the pictures and even drew around our friends to measure. We really enjoyed our outside lesson and hope this weather…
Year2 Maths Day
As part of Maths day, Year 2 really enjoyed playing different maths games on the laptops using and improving their mathematical knowledge and understanding.
Y6 Maths Games Afternoon
Y6 ended another busy week by putting their mental arithmetic and timestables skills and knowledge into practise by spending the afternoon challenging each other to a series of Maths games.
Maths and Computing
Today the Reception children used their knowledge of position and direction to help them program the BeeBots to travel along an activity mat. They had great fun exploring what BeeBot can do!
Maths in Nursery
This week in Nursery we have been learning about long, tall and short. The children have been making long trains and train tracks and building tall and short towers. Some of their towers were even bigger than them! We also did some threading with long and short laces.
