We celebrated world maths day with the help of the numberblocks.
We practised our counting skills, counting the objects in the picture, we then used a peg to choose the correct numberblock for the amount.
Our challenge was to try and build the numberblock too! 
 

To celebrate World Maths Day, Y6 spent the afternoon with Y1 helping them to play Maths games and develop their counting and adding skills.

On World Maths Day Year 5 learnt about how important maths is in everyday life. They looked at famous mathematicians (men and women)  from the past and how they have helped shape the world we live in.

KS2 took part in the NSPCC Times Table Rock Star challenge today. They all tried very hard to be the winning class with the highest number of correct answers per pupil. The speed and recall of some of the pupils was very impressive! A huge well done to everyone. 
 

Year 3 took part in a TTROCKS Challenge. How many correct answers can they get in one hour? This was a Countrywide Challenge, we did really well.

The Year 2 children have been exploring how to draw and make 2D shapes in their maths lesson. They really enjoyed using the geoboards on the iPads to create their own 2D shapes before attempting to draw them.

In maths we have been finding factors of numbers. We made arrays with counters to help understand this. We learnt that numbers that only have 2 factors , 1 and the number itself, are called Prime Numbers. 

In maths we have been learning to use comparison signs. We made our own less than, greater than and equal to signs. We used cubes to represent our numbers and pencils to help us find the correct comparison sign. We love to make our maths with equipment before we draw or write them down. It really…

In Maths we have been learning how to take away. The children have used the bus game, where you put a number of people on the bus and then take them away at each bus stop. They then wrote take away calculations and used the bus and people to work out the answers. Super Maths Reception!
