Year 5 X- country
Year 5 took part in a x- country event at St. Benedict’s today. We all ran 2km and our average time was worked out. In June we will return to St. Benedict’s to run the same course and we will see if we can improve our time. We hope to get lots of training in before then so we can knock some time…
Football Tournament
Congratulations to all our footballers who represented the school in a tournament against other local schools. They all had a great time and enjoyed putting the skills they have been learning in PE into practice.
Year 5 Art Trip

Year 5 Design and Technology
Year 5 have enjoyed making flatbread and Smorrebrod in design and technology. They learnt that Smorrebrod is a type of Danish open sandwich made on rye bread with a variety of toppings in order to provide you with lots of nutrients.
Maths in Year 5
In maths we have been finding factors of numbers. We made arrays with counters to help understand this. We learnt that numbers that only have 2 factors , 1 and the number itself, are called Prime Numbers.

Active Feet First In Year 5
Year 5 braved the wet weather this week to either walk the whole or part of the way to school in order to take part in Active Feet First. They were all rewarded with a high viz slap band.
Gymnastics in Year 5

Ukulele in Year 5
Year 5 have been learning how to play the Ukulele this year. They have learnt how to read music and were able to perform a selection of songs to the rest of the school. Everyone enjoyed listening to them.
Year 5 Library Visit Summer Term
Year 5 enjoyed their trip to the library to change their books. Many children opted for non- fiction books this time and they were keen to get started with reading them.
Year 5 Intra School Athletics Competition
Year 5 enjoyed putting all the skills they have learnt over the last half term in athletics into practice in a mini class tournament. They did the triple long jump, standing long jump, hurdles, javelin and relays. They all had a great time cheering in their team mates.
