Year 5

Year 5 have been learning how to do counter balances in gymnastics. They had to keep their bodies taut and lean away from each other whilst remaining in contact by means of a grip. We think they did really well!

Year 5 have enjoyed their first ukulele lesson today. They learnt the difference between rhythm and pulse and practised playing short and long sounds in time with a song. They also learnt how to hold the ukulele correctly. They were all so enthusiastic and keen to join 

We all had a great time spending time together exploring the fort at Lowther Castle on our end of year trip. We finished the day with ice lollies to cool off! 

Today two Sellafield apprentices came in to tell us all about their jobs. We learnt about what happens at Sellafield and how STEM subjects are important in their roles. At St. Bridget’s we encourage Active playtimes. This week the children have been enjoying playing tennis as well using all the other equipment we have available. They also enjoy challenging themselves on our climbing equipment or playing imaginary games in the Forest area.

Year 5 have been swimming every afternoon this week at Copeland pool. They have all improved their swimming skills on this intense course. Today they learnt how to take off their pyjamas in the water and create a float for their life saving skills. 

Year 5 went to mass today to celebrate The Feast of the Sacred Heart.

Group B had a great time at Forest School yesterday for their last session. They still enjoyed climbing trees, playing in the mud and chilling out in the hammocks despite the rain!
