Reception

Reception enjoyed a multi-skills session with Dan during their P.E. lesson this week. They practiced chasing, balancing and changing direction.

Reception have settled beautifully into their new class. On their first full week they have taken part in lots of fun activities. We have been looking at our local area, in particular, Hartleys ice-cream shop.

Reception thoroughly enjoyed their end of year trip to the Lake District Wildlife Park. They enjoyed learning about all the animals. They especially enjoyed cuddling guinea pigs, watching a bird of prey display and stroking the bearded dragon and the snake.

Mrs Robson and Mrs Bond had a wonderful afternoon meeting their new class for September.  We enjoyed Circle Time sharing fun facts about ourselves.  Then we created some Art work for our new classroom.  We can’t wait to spend more time together when you are in Year One.…

Reception had great fun making and testing their pirate boats this week. They had to think about how to make the boats, the materials they would need and whether the materials were waterproof or not. All of them were waterproof although some of them did capsize.

Reception ran really well at the running tournament this morning.

In Maths this week Reception have been learning about halving shapes. They investigated how they could halve some basic 2D shapes using their scissors to cut them. They were surprised to find that some shapes could be halved in more than one way.

Well done to all the children who have earned reading stripes this week and over the half term holiday for reading five days or more each week. Keep up the good work.
