Year 5 had a great time at Sports Day today. They put all the skills they have been learning throughout the year in PE into practice. It was lovely to see everyone joining in and encouraging their team mates. Well done to the Red Team for winning! ⭐️
 

Year 5 enjoyed participating in lots of different sports during National School Sports Week. They did gymnastics, cricket, mile-a-day, active playtimes and even took part in the Big Skip. What a busy week they had!

We had a great time at Whitehaven Cricket Ground playing in a tournament against six other schools. We enjoyed putting all the skills we have learnt in PE into practice and taking part in such a great event.

Year 5 had a fantastic time celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We dressed in red, white and blue and celebrated in a traditional street party style! 
 

Year 5 have had an active day for the NSPCC Big Break . They had an extended break enjoying playing lots of games with our new equipment.  They also designed games for Year 2 to play and had so much fun playing them. 
 

Year 5 had a great day at Muncaster Castle today. We visited the Queen Elizabeth exhibition and learnt lots about the coronation. We enjoyed watching the bIrd show and we were very impressed by their skills. We spent the afternoon exploring the grounds, walking through the ‘Enchanted Gardens’ and…

It was great to see so many children walking to and from school this week and collecting Street Tags along the way! 
 

Year 5 enjoyed their visit to the library yesterday. They read the blog on the back of the books to help them make a decision about which book to choose. They had some time to enjoy reading their book then learnt how to check it out themselves on the computer.

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic afternoon at a football tournament at St. Benedict’s School today. They enjoyed practising all the skills they have been learning in PE with our football coach.⚽️⚽️⚽️
 

Year 5 have had a fantastic morning learning how to throw, catch and hit the ball with our cricket coach Matthew Semphill. They were all keen to practice their new skills in a game of cricket!

Year 5 enjoyed celebrating their class saint’s day on Thursday. They learnt all about the life of St. Patrick, how St. Patrick’s day is celebrated and had a special visit from Mrs. Smith who shared all her Irish heritage with us.

As part of our British Science Week work, Year 5 visited Strudda Farm to learn about growth. They found out about the importance of the growth of wheat, corn and barley in order to produce a lot of the foods they love to eat. They were delighted to pet new born lambs and chicks and were thrilled…
