In Reception this week we have been taking part in our collective worship around the theme of ‘Love’. The children shared who they loved and lit their candle, representing Jesus as the light of the world. Some of the children then chose to use our prayer area to say their own prayers.

In Reception, we have been learning about the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and how he created his own arty by painting fruit, vegetables. The children then created their own portraits. 
 

A fun time was had for Reception who had a Friendship Disco with year 1 and 2. They enjoyed dancing, the disco lights and a quick snack. What wonderful times to share with their friends. 
 

Our Ethos group attended a zoom session with Sister Susan. She has lived and worked in Rwanda and has helped use donations that have been given to charity to support children in Rwanda and to help give them fresh running water. 
 

Reception got the chance to visit the library bus this week and choose and share some books together, as well as choosing some books for us to read in class. They also got to have a story time session. 
 

In Reception we celebrated Bonfire night by learning about how to be safe around fireworks and sparklers. We then had our own sparkler using a carrot as a handle and then joined Nursery to watch our own firework. We finished the day with a hot chocolate and a biscuit.

As it is the month of October, Reception have been learning about what the rosary is. They learnt that we use rosary beads and say prayers for each bead. We had Fran from the charity, ‘Mary’s Meals’, deliver our school assembly to tell us all about the charity. This week Reception have been learning about St Francis, as his feast day is on the 4th October. We learnt that he loved all of God’s creations and cared for our environment. We talked about how we could show love and care for animals and then made our own animal homes that could home an animal.…

Reception have been learning how to keep a rhythm in music by clapping our hands or tapping our knees. We learnt the song, ‘Pat a cake’ and some actions to match. We first did this on our own and then found a partner to do the actions with. The children really enjoyed the partner game where you…

Our Reception children have been exploring colours this week and learning how to make new ones. They chose two colours and mixed them together to make another colour. We also learnt how to wash our brushes too after painting with one colour and before choosing another one.
