Reading rewards
Congratulations to all the Reception children who read five times or more at home during the last week to earn a reading rainbow stripe. Who will have the most stripes towards a prize by the end of term?
Library visit
Reception enjoyed a visit to the library today. They shared books with each other then became very animated during a story session.
World Book Day in Reception
All the children looked wonderful in their World Book Day costumes. They followed instructions to make gingerbread men. Tomorrow they will decorate them then they will write the instructions.
Pancake Day fun
Reception have been learning about why we have Pancake Day and what people around the world do to celebrate it. They had great fun taking part in pancake races with each other.

First gymnastics session
Reception took part in their first gymnastics session today. They learned how to perform some of the basic moves and shapes such as the star, pencil, pike, straddle and the forward roll.
Chinese New Year workshop: Making concertina dragons
The dragon is a revered creature in Chinese culture with paper dragons being commonly seen at Chinese New Year celebrations all around the world. The children had lots of fun making their own concertina dragons.

Maths and Computing

Reception visit church
As part of our work on celebrations in R.E., Reception went to church to find artefacts that are used as part of a celebration. They found the different features in the church very interesting and found out some facts about them too.

This half term Reception are working on learning some basic dance moves. Today’s lesson had some challenging combinations in them but this did not stop the children from trying their best throughout.
