Year 1 have enjoyed a wonderful week making their own Gingerbread biscuits. In English we have been studying the Gingerbread Man as a traditional tale. We have used Talk for Writing to immerse ourselves in the story. We have created story maps, sequenced the story, written instructions for making gingerbread biscuits and even a missing poster for the cheeky Gingerbread Man. A big thank you to Mr & Mrs Stead who came along to help us. Did you know that at one time Mrs Stead was the school cook here at St Bridget’s? We enjoyed measuring the ingredients and rolling out the biscuit dough. It was tricky cutting them out and of course we had to take care that none of the Gingerbread Men escaped. We left them to cool overnight and decorated them the next day. Yummy work Year 1.
