Year 4

Year 4 have been learning now to use coordinates to find the exact location of places around the world. They used an atlas to find the latitude and longitude coordinates. 
 

Year 4 have been learning about different strategies to use to carry out diving calculations. Today they chose use a strategy of their choice. 
 

We all enjoyed some Christmas crafts whilst listening to classic Christmas tunes. 
 

We all had a go at pond dipping. We disturbed the riverbed to release invertebrates then captured a sample of the water so that we could make observations of any living organisms. We then used the scale to determine how fresh and unpolluted the water in the River Ehen is. 
 

We made very detailed observations of a section of the River Ehen so that we could make a technical drawing of the area using map symbols. 
 

We had to make a river using only the natural materials that could be found lying on the ground. We then had to include as many features as we could and label our river. There was lots of discussion using all the technical vocabulary we have been learning in school.

Year 4 have had a productive morning applying and reinforcing their knowledge about rivers. They have been learning about the rivers in our locality and about the importance of protecting it has a habitat. 
 

Year 4 commemorated Remembrance Day by reading some war poetry. They then composed their own poem to express their gratitude to all those who made and continue to make sacrifices in wars. They then made their own poppy display sheet on which to present their poem. 
 

Year 4 enjoyed handling Anglo-Saxon artefacts, making observations to enrich their learning. 
 

Exploring the Hill Fort Castle.

Yum yum! Ice cream and fun in the sun. We loved meeting all the animals and especially the ferret race!
