Year 5 Visit to Egremont Library
Year 5 visited Egremont Library today to choose a book. They read the blog to see if they were interested in the book and if they were they checked it out. They had some quiet time to enjoy reading their chosen book.
Year 5 Ball Skills
Year 5 enjoyed a warm up game of ‘Chain Tag’ in PE. They had to work together as a team to catch the whole class and make one long chain. This was followed by relay games where they practiced ball skills such as dribbling, changing direction and passing.
World Maths Day in Year 1

Woodmatters 2023 pt2
Year 4 learned about the runic alphabet and had to decipher the instructions written in runes to find out how to make ink in the same way as the Anglo-Saxons. They also learned how parchment was made then made their own quill which they used to write their own message using the runic alphabet.

Woodmatters 2023 pt3
Year 4 learned about how coins were developed, used and made during the Anglo-Saxon and Viking times. They then designed and made their own coin.
Woodmatters 2023 pt4
Year 4 learned about how the weaving technique was used in different ways to create materials during medieval times. They then learned how to weave wool in the same way as our early ancestors.
World Maths Day in Nursery
We celebrated world maths day with the help of the numberblocks.
We practised our counting skills, counting the objects in the picture, we then used a peg to choose the correct numberblock for the amount.
Our challenge was to try and build the numberblock too!
Planting Seeds in Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have been planting seeds linked to our topic “How does your garden and it’s creatures grow” and our story “Jaspers Beanstalk”.
We have learnt that a seed needs soil, water and sun to grow. We can’t wait to see how big our plants will grow!

Hands on History
Year 4 throughly enjoyed a day at Woodmatters learning about the Anglo-Saxon and Viking struggle for the kingdom of England. They re-enacted the entire period in history and battle formations using a range of artefacts. They had opportunities to use historical vocabulary and learn Norse words.

Gingerbread Men
Nursery read the story of The Gingerbread Man and then made their very own gingerbread men with a face and buttons. These ones didn't have a chance to run away as the children gobbled them all up!
Girls’ Cricket
The girls’ cricket team thoroughly enjoyed their matches against other local schools yesterday, winning 2 out of 3 games.
