Year 1 travelled to Bowness-on-Windermere to visit The World of Beatrix Potter. In English we have been enjoying reading The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Today we enjoyed meeting other characters Beatrix Potter wrote books about. We learnt that she painted her pictures first and then would write stories to go with them. The attraction was magical and it was wonderful to see all the different characters set out, it made the stories come to life. We enjoyed exploring Mr McGregor’s garden and it was lots of fun identifying different vegetables. We enjoyed the challenge of looking for 5 hidden mice around the garden. There were also clues to be found on the paving stones. We enjoyed watching a film that told us all about Beatrix Potter’s life. It was interesting to find out about how many farms she owned and that you can still visit Hilltop Farm. We can’t wait to read even more Beatrix Potter books now. A magical day out for year 1 enhancing our learning in English.
