We had so much fun on our wonderful trip to Keswick Museum. We enjoyed our fossil workshop, learning about fossils and the geology of Cumbria. We found out all about the continents millions of years ago and that once Cumbria was in the Southern Hemisphere and was covered in tropical rainforest. That Cockermouth was once underwater and we know this from finding coral there. We also found out that Carlisle was once a desert which is why there is lots of sandstone in the area. We learnt about ancient creatures called trilobites that are related to wood lice. We made our own trilobite fossils and enjoyed being scientists looking at lots of amazing fossils and crystals. The Museum teacher said she was extremely impressed with all Year 1 for their excellent knowledge , ability to listen and fantastic behaviour. We are very proud of them.
