Today as part of National Autism Awareness Week 2021 Serena volunteered to tell the class all about Autism. Serena confidently talked to the class and shared her personal experiences. Serena told the class all about the charity that her family has set up to help support and celebrate Autism in the community. The charity is called ‘Bee Unique’ which can be found on Facebook if you want to look it up. We talked about that some differences are easy to see like eye colour, hair colour and gender. We then talked that some differences are not easy to see like Autism. The children used talking partners to discuss the meaning of the word ‘unique’ and how we are all special in different ways. We then started work on creating a whole class jigsaw. Our jigsaw celebrates that we all different but together we compliment each other.
