During Science Week, the children in Reception had a fantastic time exploring exciting experiments and discovering what it means to be a scientist. We began by carrying out an exciting experiment where we dropped Mentos into Coke and watched the amazing fizzy explosion shoot up into the air! The children were fascinated by the reaction and enjoyed predicting what might happen next. Inspired by this, the children then became scientists themselves. They created their very own “potions” by mixing vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, carefully observing what happened when the ingredients combined. The bubbling, fizzing reaction sparked lots of curiosity, discussion, and excitement as the children explored and experimented just like real scientists.
