Year 5 have had a busy and meaningful day celebrating VE day. We made cards which were given out to members of our local community to help mark the occasion. We were fortunate to attend a VE Day service at Egremont Castle, where we paused to give thanks for peace and prayed for peace across the world today. We watched as the 80th anniversary commemorative flag was raised and listened to the solemn notes of the Last Post. A special highlight was seeing our very own Frank take part in the ceremony—dressed in full uniform, he had the honour of raising and lowering the flags as part of the official proceedings.
