As part of their work on the Great Fire of London, Year 2 visited Whitehaven Fire Station to find out more about the methods that were used to fight the fire and how it led to the creation of the Fire Service today. The children impressed Green Watch with their knowledge of how the fire started and what the houses were like in 1666. The children were shown what firefighters wear today to keep themselves safe and the different equipment they use in their job. The visit ended with every child having a turn to use the fire hose. What a very informative and fun time was had by all!
