Y1 Learning about Baptism

Year 1 Visited St. Mary’s Church to learn about Baptism with Father Peter.  To help the children’s understanding of the different parts involved they role played a Baptism. We learnt that Baptism is an invitation to belong to the family of the church. The children learnt about the words and phrases used in Baptism.  They learnt about the actions and symbols used in Baptism such as the anointing with oil, pouring of water and the lighting of the baptismal candle.  Year 1 enjoyed asking Father Peter questions and found role playing a Baptism really helped their understanding.
