Year 3

Year 3 were using force meters to measure how many Newtons it takes to lift an object. They recorded their results and worked really in pairs. 
 

Year 3 took part in a Safe Internet day live lesson. They created their own AI chat bot and considered the risk of using AI. They designed brilliant posters to inform others. In HRSE they reflected on cyber bullying as part of anti-bullying and how to respond to bullying. 

Year 3 have been playing shape and place value guessing games, going for gold and solving number problems today. Happy Number Day!
 

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic time at a Change4Life tournament. They learnt lots of fun ways to keep fit and practised many of the skills they have been developing in school. The children have brought back great ideas to share with their friends during playtimes.

Year 3 have really been testing their maths to the limit when multiplying and dividing 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. We used materials such as base ten and place value counters to help us to understand exactly how to o it. We then moved on to a written method. Well done Year 3!
 

Year 3 prepared some beautiful St. Bridget’s day prayer cards to distribute to the community. After celebrating Mass for St. Bridget’s Day, Year 3 walked up the street to the doctors surgery, Marion’s and Cohen’s Chemist, leaving a thoughtful message in each card.

Year 3 were investigating which surface caused the greatest friction on the car wheels. We tried Lino, carpet and tarmac. We have grass and wood to test on Monday. 

Which surface will the car travel furthest on? The surface with the least friction. Which one will it be?

Year 3 have been considering how to have a healthy balanced diet. They have created healthy chips and healthy yogurt with new and delicious toppings. They will evaluate their cooking skills next week.

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a wonderful performance of The Wizard of Oz at Keswick Theatre by the Lake.

Year 3 have been putting together a sequence of moves, balances and jumps. They have been practising different skills each week. We really do have some very talented gymnasts. We ended our session with a “Plank Off”, a massive well done to everyone who held on for as long as they could and…

Year 3 and 4 representatives had a great time at the multi-skills tournament last week. They thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the round-robin of activities, practising all the different sports skills they have been learning.

Congratulations to all the children from Year 3 who represented the school at their first cross country event at Whitehaven School. They showed great perseverance and resilience, in very wet conditions, to complete the cross country course. They are all shining examples to their peers and…
