In science, Year 5 are learning about the properties of materials. They carried out an experiment to see whether pepper, salt, flour, sugar, and Fairy Liquid are soluble in water.
They found out:
-
Salt is soluble – it dissolved in water.
-
Sugar is soluble – it also dissolved in water.
-
Fairy Liquid is soluble – it mixed well with the water.
-
Flour is not soluble – it did not dissolve and made the water cloudy.
-
Pepper is not soluble – it floated or sank but did not dissolve.
This helped them understand the difference between soluble and insoluble materials.
