Year 3 have been learning about Healthy balanced diets. They were learning about the hidden ingredients in foods that are sold in supermarkets. Such as yogurts that we buy at the supermarkets. We have learnt that many use artificial sweeteners, preservatives etc.. They have learnt in Science, about a healthy balanced diet and why it is so important to stay healthy, eat food to give us energy and prevent weight gain. 
We talked about seasonal fruit and how we import fruits to eat them all year and learnt that we can preserve them by freezing, dehydrating and pickling.

They chopped and stewed apples, stewed berries, enjoyed fresh fruit choosing from a variety of delicious seeds, oats, honey and toppings for their own healthy yoghurt. Most children really enjoyed it and prefer it to a shop bought yogurt! Some even added mint leaves.
