This morning Year 6 visited the new base unit of Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team. Sarah and Basia showed us around their base unit and told us about what all the different areas are used for. We learned all about the different equipment that is required e.g. rescue vehicles, including a boat, radio control units, stretchers and even medical supplies. We also learned how highly skilled each team member is and that they spend a lot of time training and continuously training. Sarah and Basia then helped us understand the measures we can take to ensure that we are well equipped when we go out on the fells. We were all amazed and impressed with the important job all the volunteers do to rescue people who get into difficulty whilst out enjoying the fells.
