Year 6 were invited to St Bees private school to take part in a Science Fair. Throughout the meowing the children studied the structure of a cell using a microscope. They were shown how a Van Der Graff generator charges things up creating static electricity. In the labs, the children carried out flame tests using a wooden splint soaked in several different chemicals to see what colour flame it would create. They also carried out a gas test using strips of magnesium dipped in acid. After the chemical reaction the children were amazed that when a flame was added to the test tube it made a load popping sound!
