What a beautiful day it was today for the Year 2 trip to the Beacon! The visit began with a talk and guided walk around the harbour to find out about the history of Whitehaven and the role of the harbour in mining and trade.  After a well deserved lunch the children visited the Yellow Earl exhibition to learn about Hugh Lowther, the Earl of Lonsdale. The children were very surprised to learn that he ran off to the circus as well as spending some time travelling the Arctic. They had great fun dressing up and working on their wrestling skills. The visited ended with a visit to the Pirates exhibition where the children had great fun exploring the many activities on hand. What a wonderful day was had by all!
