Over the past few weeks Year 2 have been investigating a variety of materials and media to see if they are waterproof or not. This week they tested a range of media (chalk, oil pastel, pencil crayons, wax crayon and felt pens) on paper to see if absorbed or repelled water. The children were amazed to discover that wax crayon and oil pastel would not absorb water. They chose to decorate the paper hats they made with wax crayon to ensure they were waterproof. What wonderful designs they made!
