This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week theme is ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.’ Year 2 has been looking at the importance of self-awareness and expressing emotions. The children took part in a body scan to develop awareness of their bodies and how each part of the body feels. Then they learned all about the Zones of Regulation and explored the resources they can access when they experience a range of emotions. They practised breathing techniques including blowing bubbles, used fidget toys and looked at what a sensory circuit is. The session ended with the story ‘Ravi’s Roar’ by Tom Percival.
