As part of their work on the Great Fire of London, Year 2 went to Whitehaven Fire Station to learn more about the fire, how the fire service was created and what the fire service is like today. Red Watch talked with the children about the Great Fire of London then showed them around the fire engine. They showed them all the different equipment they use. They even dressed Miss McKendrey up in the protective clothing they wear so that the children could see all the protective layers they have to wear to keep themselves safe. The children were very inquisitive and asked the fire fighters many questions. Red Watch commented on how impressed they were with their knowledge and questioning. What a wonderful experience it was!
