We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day in Year 6. Everyone came to school dressed either as a character from a book or in their cosy pyjamas, which made the day feel extra fun and relaxed.
One of the highlights of the day was taking part in The Great Big World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz. In the quiz, we watched different footballers and authors talk about their favourite books and ask us questions. It was exciting to recognise some famous footballers and test our knowledge.
We also spent time writing a book review about a book we have really enjoyed reading. It was great to share our opinions and recommend stories to others.
Another activity we loved was working in groups to create our very own River of Reading. In this project, we thought about all the books we have loved since we were very young children up to the present day. We shared our favourite stories and added them to our river so we could see our reading journey.
At the end of the day, we visited Year 1 and shared some books with them. It was lovely to read together and help the younger children enjoy stories too.
It was a magical day that reminded us all about the joy of books and the pleasure of reading. World Book Day helped us celebrate how stories can inspire us, make us laugh, and take us on amazing adventures.
