Year 6 Take on Sponsored Hike for a Worthy Cause Our Year 6 pupils recently enjoyed a fantastic morning outdoors as they completed a sponsored 5-mile hike to Longlands. The event was organised not only to promote the importance of staying safe and being well prepared when hiking, but also to raise money and awareness for the incredible Mountain Rescue Search Dogs charity. Before setting off, the children learned about the essentials needed for a safe hike. Each pupil carried their own water and a healthy snack, helping them understand the importance of being prepared when spending time outdoors. Throughout the 5-mile journey, the children demonstrated outstanding resilience, determination, and camaraderie. They supported and encouraged one another every step of the way, showing excellent teamwork and a positive attitude despite the challenge of the distance. Their enthusiasm and perseverance were inspiring to see. The hike also highlighted the vital work carried out by Mountain Rescue Search Dogs. These highly trained search dogs, alongside their volunteer handlers and carers, dedicate countless hours to helping locate people who become lost or find themselves in difficulty on the fells. Without the generosity of donations and fundraising efforts, this invaluable service would not be possible. The charity relies on volunteers who freely give their time, commitment, and expertise to help keep others safe. As well as supporting an important cause, the children benefited from spending time in the fresh air, being active, and appreciating the natural environment around them. It was a wonderful experience that combined learning, physical activity, and community spirit. We are incredibly proud of all our Year 6 pupils for their effort, determination, and support for such a worthwhile charity. Their achievement serves as a reminder of the importance of preparation, teamwork, and helping others in our community.
