Today in our Year 6 PE lesson, we had our first hockey coaching session, and it was really exciting. We started by learning how to hold the hockey stick correctly, which is very important for control and safety. We also learned about different parts of the stick, including the toe, which is used to help guide and control the ball.
After that, we practised how to control the ball using the stick. It was a bit tricky at first, but everyone improved with practice. Then we moved on to learning how to do a push pass. This is a way of passing the ball smoothly along the ground to a teammate.
Finally, we learned how to stop the ball after receiving a push pass. This helped us understand how to keep control during a game. Year 6 really enjoyed their first hockey session and had lots of fun learning new skills. They are looking forward to developing these skills and learning even more next week.
