Writing # Year 6 Explore Our Local Mining Heritage at Florence Mine As part of our enrichment curriculum, Year 6 enjoyed an exciting and informative visit to **Florence Mine**, where they discovered more about the rich mining heritage of our local area. During the visit, the children explored the old mine and walked in the footsteps of the **Red Men of Cumbria**, learning about the miners who worked tirelessly underground in years gone by. They even had the opportunity to handle some of the tools used by miners, helping them to imagine what life was like working in the mines. The visit brought our local history to life, as the children discovered how mining has shaped our community, its traditions and even its artwork. They gained a deeper understanding of how the mining industry has influenced the area we live in today. It was a fantastic opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, develop a greater appreciation of our local heritage and discover the important stories that make our area so special. Well done, Year 6, for your curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the visit!
